One of the most popular GI Joe costumes is the outfit of the character Duke. As a member of the GI Joe team, Duke is a highly trained, special forces officer that defends humanity’s freedom against terrorist organizations in their attempt to rule the world.
In 1982, the GI Joe storyline was relaunched with a complex background story of “good vs. evil” involving an ongoing struggle between the GI Joe Team and the evil Cobra organization, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world. As he was not a member of the original GI Joe team, Duke was introduced to the Joes lineup in 1984. He has been considered the main character ever since.
Heavily inspired by what were the current day military activities of the U.S., the original Duke GI Joe costume consisted of a beige shirt with rolled-up sleeves, gold eagle on right chest, green diagonal strap, green belt and pants and brown boots. The latest standard GI Joe costume is much different.
The latest GI Joe costume for Duke is based on the “GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra” movie. The outfit has changed quite a bit since the original GI Joe outfit above. The latest rendition of the GI Joe costume is the “Reactive Impact Armor”, an all black jumpsuit with muscle armor that includes the helmet:
