Cover Girl, one of the few female characters in the GI Joe series was also one of the few background characters sprinkled through the GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra movie. As a member of the GI Joe team, Cover Girl is a tank jockey, specializing in the Wolverine missile tank, and a respected mechanic.
Prior to joining G.I. Joe, Cover Girl was a highly successful fashion model from Peoria, Illinois who graced the covers of countless magazines, but she found the world of modeling unfulfilling and joined the army to seek out new challenges in life. She felt very driven to master distinctly unfeminine traits in order to prove that she was not just a pretty face.
In 1982, the GI Joe storyline was relaunched with a complex background story of ”good vs. evil”involving an ongoing struggle between the GI Joe Team and the evil Cobra organization, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world. As she was not a member of the original GI Joe team, Cover Girl was introduced to the Joes lineup in 1983.
Unfortunately, the latest Cover Girl GI Joe costume based on the “GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra” movie has not been a popular outfit. Therefore, there are no ready to wear, prepackaged costumes available. With a little effort, you can create Cover Girl’s GI Joe Costume with the following pieces:
- a modern day U.S. Army uniform
- a black belt
- black knee high boot
- a black walkie talkie attached to the belt
In the movie, Cover Girl was also seen wearing the movie version of the U.S. Army Class A uniform.
One of the Cover Girl GI Joe costumes from the comics is actually the most popular rendition you will see and also very easy to put together. It’s a basic tan long sleeve button down shirt, basic tan pants, a brown bomber jacket with a matching brown belt and boots. She also wears dog tags, sports an over the shoulder black carrier and wears a holster on her left leg for the gun she usually carries in hand. You can finish the look off with a red wig. Here are a few of the pieces to help you get started:

Baroness GI Joe Costume From "GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra" Movie
A GI Joe costume that fans of the female gender will want to wear is the Baroness costume. The Baroness is part of the evil Cobra Command, a ruthless terrorist organization created as the nemesis of the GI Joe Team when the franchise was rebooted in 1982. Although the character was not part of the initial GI Joe: A Real American Hero release in 1982, she did appear in GI Joe #1, published by Marvel Comics in June 1982 and was, in fact, the first character to crossover from the comics, into the animated series. She also kept her GI Joe costume from the switch from the comics to the animated series.
The Baroness is known for being as ruthless and intelligent as she is beautiful. Working intelligence for Cobra Command, she is the right-hand woman of Cobra Commander and the girl friend of Destro. As with any other Cobra Command operatives, she is determined to rule the world.
